Gilmer County Mountain Bike Capital of Georgia

Welcome
Ellijay Mountain Bike Association is a chapter of The Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) which is the largest nonprofit mountain biking organization in the Southeast. Our members work with local land managers to create trails and trail systems for mountain bikers and other users to enjoy. Through advocacy, education, and recreational opportunities, EMBA carries out its mission to promote land access, trail preservation, and new trail development in order to enhance mountain bike touring, racing, fun, and fellowship for all mountain bicyclists in the southeastern United States.

What would we do without trails?

Mountain Bike Race at Fort Mountain State Park

The Ellijay Mountain Bike Association and Gone Riding will be sponsoring the Georgia State Championship (GSC) #7 at Fort Mountain State Park, Ellijay, GA… the Mountain Bike Capital of Georgia - Sunday, July 20, 2008.  The race divisions are for all ages and levels of riding abilities.  Spectators are welcome!

The kid’s races start at 8:30 am; age groups include 3 to 5 year olds, 6 to 8 year olds and 9 to 11 year olds.  The other divisions start at 9:30 AM for the 1st wave and 11:30 AM for the 2nd wave.

The park manager, Brian Ensley and Marco Falgiano, President EMBA, have selected a new and improved 5.8 mile loop that showcases all that Fort Mountain has to offer.

Pioneer campsites 1, 2 and 3 are available free to all racers. Other campsites are available and questions can be answered at www.gastateparks.org 706.422.1932.

If you would like to be a spectator, participant or volunteer for this race please feel free to show up or contact Ellijay Mountain Bike Association (EMBA) at the below number or our website.  Food and drinks will be available while supplies last.

This is a fun event and whether you are racing or just watching you will have a great time.  If you would like to join the Ellijay Mountain Bike Association (EMBA) please visit our website for future get-togethers and events.  We hope to see you there!!

The Ellijay Mountain Bike Association (EMBA) is a non-profit organization and a branch of SORBA.  We organize group rides for all riding abilities in addition to getting together for other fun events.  We are a social club and we maintain the hiking/biking trails in our area.
